Recently, the Lingang New Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone held a centralized signing ceremony for new energy vehicle supporting industry projects in 2020. Thirteen projects including Xinquan, Jinyuan Sheng and other key enterprises in the industry have officially landed in the Lingang New Area, covering automobile bodies, chassis, interior and exterior decoration, new energy powertrains, materials, sensors and electronic components. The total investment in various supporting products in the industrial chain exceeds 4 billion yuan, and the output value exceeds 10 billion yuan.
Located at the intersection of the Yangtze River and the East China Sea, the Lingang area is the main base for the development of Shanghai's advanced manufacturing industry. The "50 Special Policies" of the new area clearly propose a series of powerful measures such as supporting projects in the fields of new energy and intelligent connected vehicles, prioritizing the layout of platforms, and supporting listing financing and equity investment.
Since 2007, SAIC’s own brand vehicle and new energy vehicle projects, Mercedes-Benz remanufacturing, Yanfeng Bailide and other companies have settled in the new area, and a large number of upstream and downstream industry supporting companies have settled in the area. , forming a fully functional industrial chain, and the cluster effect of the Lingang automobile industry is beginning to appear.
In 2018, the SAIC Maxus EV31 project rolled off the production line, further enriching the types of new energy vehicles in Lingang. In the same year, Tesla, the world's electric vehicle industry giant, landed in the Lingang Industrial Zone. It was the largest foreign-invested manufacturing project in Shanghai's history and the first project after the opening of the foreign shareholding ratio in domestic electric vehicles. This year, the Lingang automobile and parts industry achieved a total industrial output value of 38 billion yuan.
In 2019, the Lingang New Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone signed a contract to promote the development and key projects of the intelligent networked new energy vehicle industry. A total of 24 key projects of intelligent connected new energy vehicles including manufacturing, application, service and functional platforms were signed, involving a total investment of nearly 8 billion yuan.
At present, the new area relies on Tesla, SAIC Roewe and other companies to increase the upstream and downstream layout of the industrial chain. There are more than 60 related companies in the automotive field, and the industry scale is expected to exceed 60 billion in 2020 . According to the innovative industry development plan of the new area, by 2025, the total output value of the intelligent new energy vehicle industry will reach 120 billion yuan, making it an industrial cluster in the new area that is expected to exceed the 100 billion level.
